Communication

Texts, calls and faxes on one patient timeline.

SmugMe works with the phone system you already have. Text from your office number, read voicemails instead of listening to them, send and receive faxes, and get after-hours messages to the on-call provider.

Communication is part of care

Patient communication does not belong in a separate product, because it was never a separate part of care. Conversations become organized work, and the context stays with the patient.

  • Works with your phone system

Keep the phones and numbers you have. Calls and voicemails land on the patient’s timeline next to everything else.

  • Text from your office number

Confirmations, reminders and follow-up by text from the number families already know, to patients who have agreed to receive texts. Replying STOP opts out.

  • Smart voicemails

Each voicemail arrives as a short written summary, matched to the patient, with the next step ready: a callback, a refill request or a new time. Your team reads the morning instead of listening to it.

  • After-hours coverage

Patient messages after hours reach the on-call provider, and voicemails are waiting as a list in the morning.

  • Direct fax

Send and receive faxes inside SmugMe, one to one with other practices, labs and specialists. Incoming pages are matched to the right patient.

  • Telehealth

Video visits in the same platform, documented the same way as office visits. See the Telehealth page.

  • Calls from the practice

Your staff call patients from SmugMe, and the conversation stays with the rest of that patient’s history.

  • Secure messaging

Staff-to-patient and staff-to-staff messaging built for healthcare, with access recorded to an audit trail.

  • One communication history

Every call, text, fax and message on the same patient timeline as visits, referrals and follow-ups, so nobody rebuilds the story from three systems.

Questions

Do we have to change our phone system?

No. SmugMe works with the phone system and numbers you already have, and your office number can send and receive texts.

Can we still listen to the voicemail?

Yes. The recording stays with the summary on the patient’s timeline.

Who gets messages after hours?

The on-call provider your practice sets up. Everything else waits for the front desk in the morning.

Does SmugMe send marketing texts or faxes?

No. Messages and faxes go one to one from your practice, for patient care, and texts go only to patients who have agreed to receive them.

How is communication included?

Calls, texts and fax come with communication seats for the staff who use them.

SmugMe does the work. You take the credit.

We are working with a small group of independent practices before public launch. Founding practices get founder-level onboarding, a say in what we build next, and locked-in pricing. Bring us the workflow that costs your staff the most time.
